Your title is the first thing a guest reads in search, and Airbnb gives you very little room. Here's a simple formula that follows Airbnb's own title guidance, with examples you can adapt tonight.
The rules Airbnb actually publishes
Airbnb's Resource Center has a short guide to listing titles. The key points:
- Stay under 50 characters. Airbnb says to "try to use fewer than 50 characters" because longer titles are automatically shortened in search results to fit smaller screens. Its example: "Country cabin with lake view, fire pit, boat ramp" may show up as "Country cabin with lake view…".
- Lead with the most important information. Whatever comes first is what survives the cut.
- Lowercase most words. Airbnb recommends capitalizing only the first word (plus proper names like a neighborhood or landmark) because it's easier to read than Every Word Capitalized or ALL CAPS.
- Avoid emojis and repeated symbols. A single "!" is fine; "!!!" or "***" isn't. Airbnb suggests commas, or a single slash without spaces, to separate ideas.
- Don't repeat what search already shows. Your city or town, number of beds and whether the listing is new are shown automatically, so spend your characters on something else.
The GlowListing title formula
Put those rules together and most great titles fit one shape:
[Property type] + [standout feature] + [location hook or who it's for]
- Property type. Cabin, A-frame, loft, condo, cottage, villa. Specific beats generic: "A-frame" is more memorable than "home".
- Standout feature. The one thing a guest would filter for or tell a friend about. Airbnb lists the amenities guests most consistently search for: wifi, a pool, a jacuzzi, a kitchen, TV or cable, air conditioning, a washer and dryer, free parking and self check-in. If you have a pool or hot tub, it probably belongs in your title.
- Location hook or guest fit. Not your city (Airbnb shows that), but a reason the location is good: "near the Uffizi", "walk to the beach", "on the lake". Or say who it's for: Airbnb's own examples include "Hilltop hideaway for wine lovers" and "Remote work-ready guesthouse".

Five title mistakes that waste characters
- Empty adjectives. "Cozy", "charming", "stunning" and "amazing" appear on thousands of listings and tell a guest nothing they can filter for. Swap them for a fact.
- Repeating the city or bed count. Airbnb already shows both in search.
- Going over 50 characters. Your best feature might be the part that gets cut off.
- Symbols and emojis for emphasis. Airbnb specifically warns against them.
- Hiding your best amenity. If the hot tub is the reason people book, a title that never mentions it is leaving clicks on the table.
A 5-minute exercise
Write down the three things past guests mention most in reviews. Pick the one a stranger would search for. Put it in the formula, count the characters, and read it aloud. If it would make you tap, you're done. Then test it against our free listing score, which checks length, features, caps and symbols automatically and suggests three titles of its own.
